Disability Insurance protects your income if you are unable to work because of an illness or injury. The insurance will replace about 60% of your income for a set period if you're unable to work.

Different types of Disability Insurance

You can choose between three different types: long-term, short-term, and social security.

Long-term will pay up to 60% of your gross monthly income and lasts two years or up until retirement. 

Short-term is usually with your employer and will pay up to 60% of your gross monthly income, and lasts 3 to 12 months. 

Social Security is a free federal disability insurance that only covers individuals with a severe disability.
